Product weight and volume

Delivery services charge by the actual weight and the volume of the parcel. ECMS9 lets you store both per product and uses them to prefill shipping documents.

Where to set

Open the product (Catalog → product → Product tab). Right after the additional categories there is a row "Weight and volume" with the checkbox "Specify for delivery calculation":

  1. Tick the checkbox — two fields appear: weight (kg) and volume (m³).
  2. Enter the values and save the product.
  3. Untick the checkbox (or clear both fields) — the dimensions are removed and delivery modules fall back to their defaults.

The block stays a single line while the checkbox is off, so the product form is not cluttered for shops that do not need dimensions.

How delivery uses it

When you create a Nova Poshta waybill for an order, the total weight and the total volume are calculated from the ordered products (value × quantity per line) and prefilled into the waybill form with a "from products" hint. Both fields remain editable — the calculated number is a starting point, not a lock. Products without dimensions contribute nothing; if no product in the order has them, the module uses its own defaults.

Automatic and bulk waybill creation use the same calculation.

  • The "Sell in packaging" toggle now sits next to the Active switch in the first row of the product form. Packaging products sell from one shared stock pool in base units (e.g. 20 kg of coffee) while each variant is a prepackage (0.5 kg, 1 kg…) with its own price.
  • The H1 field moved to the Settings tab → Meta data card — it is SEO metadata, so it lives next to Meta Title / Description.
